Community Health Improvement Program

About Us

The Community Health Improvement Program is a collaboration between Utah Teach University, the Utah State Dept of Health & Human Services, Intermountain Health, and multiple community organizations. Our mission is to work collaboratively to enhance the well-being of all members of the community while providing opportunities for student engagement. Our focus is on serving rural and historically underserved populations through programs that address social determinants of health and barriers to equal access.

Our goals are to:

Engage Students

to participate in a variety of outreach efforts in the community that foster active, hands-on, and lifelong learning.

Empower Community Members

to take an active role in their health and wellbeing through participation in evidence-based programs.

Outreach

and develop innovative programs with a focus on rural areas and populations that historically have not had equal access.

Harness the Power of the Arts

to create highly engaging programs to positively impact physical and mental health, overall wellbeing, quality of life and interpersonal relationships.

Our initiative supports health as defined by the World Health Organization (WHO), as “a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.”

We are honored and grateful to be the recipient of funding from both Intermountain Healthcare and the Utah Department of Health & Human Services to provide programming.
